How to replace a Cooker / Oven Thermostat?

  1.  The Oven Thermostat is typically found at the back or the side of the cooker oven but is accessible from inside the Oven Door. This is dependent on what Oven you have. (Please bear in mind, this may differ slightly if you have a Double Oven)

  2.  Safety must be the first priority when dismantling or repairing electrical appliances. First Make sure your Oven is unplugged at the mains, and switched off; and ensure the repairer is competent and comfortable conducting a repair on the Oven.

  3.  Pull the main oven door down, or fully open the main cooker glass door so that the oven door and oven hinge latches lock on both sides. The door may then be removed fully (depending on the manufacturer and/or model of the machine).

  4.  Remove the top panel of the oven by locating and removing the 4 screws. Then pulling the whole oven out onto the floor. You can get your power drill to unscrew the screws. At the side of the oven from the top panel.

5.  You will find the black cord at the back of your oven. When turning the oven over on to its face with the back up; pull back the insulation where the end of the capillary cord is.

Then looking back inside your oven you should be able to determine where the capillary cord ends.

6. Using your pliers; locate the clips in the middle of your oven clipping them off. Then poking the capillary cord through the inside of your oven to the back of your oven. Using your driver/drill or screwdriver to remove the oven face. Removing the Oven Control Knobs/Dials also.

7. Unscrewing the first two screws. Try to take a picture or two, of the wires on the top of the oven and the layout for reference upon re-assembly. You need to clip the old Thermostat out and replace with the new one. Then feeding the wire back into the oven making sure the clip is located in its original place.

8. Re-assembling the whole oven in its original format. Locating the Main Oven door correctly in the same manner as it was before you removed it from the main oven cavity / oven assembly.

9. Reverse through the list of instructions to Re-assemble Oven.

The Development of Britain's Beloved Swan Teasmade  

It could be argued that the concepts and innovations of Samuel Rowbottom in the late 1800's were the foundations of the Swan Teasmade - albeit in a more basic state. Samuel Rowbottom's planned invention is described as “using steam from boiling water to force hot water out of a kettle/heater through a tube into the teapot”.  

However, it would be far closer to the truth to pass the accolade of the Swan Teasmade development to a man called Frank Clarke. The Birmingham Gunsmith in 1902 decided to innovate a Clock that could provide hot water - much latterly known and branded as a Teasmade.

By definition a Teasmade is a machine capable of making tea automatically at a given or programmed time and/or interval. In 1930 the first electrical / electronic teasmade was manufactured. While the invention was relatively popular in the UK market, it didn't really catch on and become a mass household item until the Swan Teasmade was marketed and branded in the 1960's and 1970's.

While the Swan Teasmade in 2013 is manufactured in China, with a new slim-line shape, the Teasmade still depends on British Engineering and Design to push the products next generations. With the Swan Teasmade integrating both a Bedside Light, and Radio its become an all in one gadget suitable for the 21st Century Home

1. Make sure the oven off.
2. Then open the door to the oven.
3. At the bottom the door will be hinds click hid down and slide door towards you.
4. Then couple screws on the outside of the frame of the oven unscrew them.
5. Then unscrew them in inside of frame of the oven   should be 4 screws.
6. Then you will see the element has circle ring around the fan.
7. Unscrew the 3 screw around the ring of the fan remember where screw from.
8. After you have done that you will see the fan is connecting to wires.
9. Careful take the wires and make note which way the wires go.
10. Because you don’t what lose it at the back of oven.
11. Suggest replace part with genre part
12. Take old one out and new one in
13. Don’t forget to screws the screws in the right place you took out in.
14. Ones you have done the outside of the frame of the oven don’t clip the door clips.

The Historic of swan reborn !!

The Swan brand was born in 1933 out of a father & son outfit called Bulpitt & Son Ltd. By the mid 1950’s the Swan Brand had developed a comprehensive range of electrical products ranging from Swan Irons, Swan Toasters and of course the world famous Swan Teasmade.

The Swan brand continued to grow through much of the 20^th Century, with successes coming from its Tea Urn’s, and Teasmades. In the later part of the 20^th Century, the Swan Brand was acquired by Moulinex. However, after the acquisition, Moulinex started to struggle and lost touch with the market; leading to Moulinex themselves being purchased by Groupe SEB. The Swan Brand was in the mire and after passing through the hands of many, the brand finally found a home with Littlewoods.

After an influential rekindling with Rob Wileman, whose history with the Swan Brand dated back almost 30 years, the Swan Brand started to thrive again through Swan Products Ltd. With an experienced management structure in place, and a home not far from all it began in the Midlands there is no doubt the Swan Brand will continue to succeed for many decades to come.
